What does the school promise? It all begins with the guiding statements: mission, vision and values. Yet, many schools do not articulate or implement these well. Consequently, the school’s direction and its overall proposition can be unclear. An outside perspective can help schools think realistically and clearly about their purpose and direction.
With the right process a school can build an inspiring set of guiding statements that can re-energise a school community and set it on a new path which, with focused strategic planning by the board, can bring real benefits.
201: What is the school we believe in? What do we promise?
As everything related to the school should stem from the guiding statements, they should be well-considered and supported by the community. In short, they should outline the school’s promise to the community. We look at how these statements can be constructed and how they might be created…or reviewed, in practice. School boards and school leaders can benefit from an outside perspective to help them think expansively yet realistically and honestly about the school.
202: How do we deliver on our promise? What can we achieve?
As the guiding statements underpin the school, we look at how through thoughtful and considered strategic planning the school can plot a path to the future. We then look at how the school can effectively operationalise the plan, with more specific determination of the who, how and when of an annual plan. School boards and school leaders can benefit from an outside perspective to help them think boldly yet realistically about the school.
